The Oregon State Fire Fighters Council, representing 2,900 fire fighters throughout the state, announced today that it has endorsed Ted Kulongoski for re-election as Governor.

"Fire fighters will be fighting for Governor Kulongoski this election," said Kelly Bach, an active fire fighter with the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue District and president of the statewide council of 44 local associations in Oregon. "The Governor has shown he's on our side when it comes to protecting our communities, tackling the issues that concern all working families like good schools and affordable health care, and standing up for the rights of our front-line public workers."

Bach said the union's decision to endorse the Governor was unanimous.

"I am honored to have the support of Oregon's fire fighters," said Governor Kulongoski. "They exemplify the dedication and commitment of Oregon's public workers. I am proud to stand side by side with them to keep Oregon safe and secure."

The local unions of the Oregon State Fire Fighters Council are affiliated with the Oregon AFL-CIO, which announced its endorsement of Governor Kulongoski last month.
