Get Out the Vote with Ted & Governor Kitzhaber This Friday
Governor John Kitzhaber will join Ted at Portland State University this Friday at 12:30 p.m. to emphasize the importance of this election to setting Oregon on a path to energy independence.
The rally in the Smith Center offers students a chance to learn about the issues in this election and the clear contrast between Governor Kulongoski and Ron Saxton in creating a renewable energy future for Oregon.
- Governor Kulongoski has enacted new clean car standards to reduce greenhouse emissions and air pollutions. Saxton has said he will look at repealing them if elected.
- Governor Kulongoski launched Oregon's first renewable energy action plan to end oil depenency and fight global warming. Saxton says he would rather leave it to President Bush to reduce warming.
- Governor Kulongoski is pushing to enact a requirement that 25 percent of the state's energy come from renewable sources by 2025. Saxton calls those moves a "gimmick."
So come out and join the Governors in their commitment to a clean energy future for Oregon as they call on students to make a difference in November's election.
