KETV: Gov visits Bend, talks up 'green energy' efforts

Addressing the annual conference of the Business Alliance for Sustainable Energy (BASE) in Bend Monday, Gov. Ted Kulongoski underscored his partnership with business leaders on behalf of renewable energy, and pledged to mount an aggressive effort to stimulate Oregon's biofuels markets.

The governor called for expanding the business energy tax credit program from the current 35 percent to 50 percent, which will expand the current qualifying amount from $10 million to $20 million.

"By expanding the credit in a targeted way with respect to renewable energy, we can build an even stronger program for attracting new businesses to Oregon and expanding existing ones," Kulongoski said.
